The 2015 Entertainment Technology in the Internet Age Conference

An experienced engineer and business leader, Elchanan Grabarsky has worked with a number of top companies in the technology and entertainment industries, including the RCA Computer Corporation and Discovision Associates. Elchanan Grabarsky’s professional interests have also led him to maintain membership with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).

In a press release, SMPTE announced that it recently completed the 2015 Entertainment Technology in the Internet Age (ETIA) conference at Stanford University in California. The event, called The Race is On, gathered delegates and experts in an exploration of the history and future of the technology requirements involved in providing an Internet-based quality entertainment experience. During the two-day conference, ETIA hosted diverse sessions that covered key issues and potential solutions, along with opportunities for networking and discussion.

Sessions focused on several important themes, such as streaming versus purchase, the need for new standards to drive higher-quality audio and video, and the strain between over-the-top content (OTT) and conventional content delivery systems. To address overarching themes and specific topics, the conference featured presentations by industry leaders from Netflix and other major organizations.
